Well, boys and girls. Unfortunately I have nothing to tell about South America, even though I created this page with the map already a year ago, hoping to at least rave about Brazil, the mouth of Amazon and maybe Suriname, Guyana, and so on. But the plans changed.
Due partly because of diminishing budget and partly because of running late for a departure to Europe, we ended up skipping past all of the South American coast. The reports of thefts and security problems in Brazil made the decision even easier, even though I always take the stories, ofthen fuelled by other people's fears, with a grain of salt.
We sailed from Ascension Island straight to Tobago, hugging the coast of Brazil to catch the Guyana current, staying clear of Amazon to avoid the shifting currents and brown water and even skipping Devil Island in our quest to get real Caribbean Rum, Reggae and Rest.
